Merola Company is a family owned and operated business in its 4th generation of plastering. It was started by Gennaro Merola in the early 1930's. The Merola family was well known for their quality work in the plastering trade. In the early 1940's, Gennaro moved from his home in East Liberty to Penn Hills, where the family business continued to grow.
The business was then passed on to Gennaro's son, Michael Merola Sr., who continued with the plastering trade. In the mid 1970's, Michael Sr. expanded it to include synthetic stucco insulation systems. It was during the 1980's that Michael Merola Sr. retired and passed the business on to his sons.
The sons continued on with the plastering and synthetic stucco. Then, in the early 1980's, when energy conservation became an important issue, retrofit insulation was added to the family business.
In 2002, Ornamental Plaster, including precast Cornice, Medallions and Moldings, were added to the family business, bringing back a traditional, yet classic look into today's plastering market. Most recently the business has expanded to provide Spray Foam Insulation Services, Venetian Plaster and Veneer Stone work.
To this day, William G. Merola Sr. and his youngest son Bill Merola Jr. run Merola Company. Bill Sr.’s brother Michael Merola Jr. work together with Bill and his son Bill Jr. Bill Sr.’s oldest son Michael R. Merola is also involved in the plastering trade. Also working in the family business are William Sr.'s wife Lynda, Lynda's mother Cathy and William Jr.'s wife Natalie.
